Question about Oppo's Shutdown?

Hey guys, I saw the news a few days ago about how Oppositelock is shutting down for real this time, and I had a question:

When Splinter was shut down by GHP management last year, it was basically just hidden from the front page; you can still find it if you search for it. It seems like Oppositelock, and all of our user blogs, will just be deleted outright instead. What are the plans for if/how Oppositelock will be archived? There are some sites like ichi.pro (a.k.a. upost.info) that have been passively aggregating Kinja posts over the years (and I could swear that they were aggregating comments on those posts, too, but I guess not).

I was granted authorship permissions back in early 2013, back when GMG was first rolling out Kinja, and followed Oppo closely through 2017. I kinda dropped off after that, and I’ve only been checking in every once in a blue moon. This still sucks, though; after so many years, I’m gonna miss this place. I even have a couple of post drafts that have sat neglected for years; I thought that I’d already deleted them at some point, LOL.

I was also digging through my comment history on Oppo recently, and came across this from 5 years ago:

From what I’ve heard it will be read only for a few weeks, then getting wiped around the end of the month.

There are discussions underway for leveraging some built-in export mechanism, as I understand it, but many of us have been archiving our own content.

I think it’s just one week of read-only status, but I wouldn’t count on even that long.
